fall is such a beautiful time of year here. i keep trying to remind myself to stop and enjoy it in the midst of all of the renovation mess and stress around here. last weekend we decided to go spend the night up in a yurt near mancos just to get away for a bit.
so when i flipped in that first rapid on our trip, my camera flipped with me. it still works, but it definitely has some issues. so, i bought a new camera. to be honest, i was kind of glad the old one got messed up because ever since i saw kyle’s photos from the bright eyes show in albuquerque, i’ve wanted a camera like that. so i splurged and bought one, a canon powershot s90. so awesome! but anyway, hazel is pretty serious about taking photos with my old camera. she wants to start a blog.
so, contrary to what you might think from all of my complaining, the renovation is actually moving right along. we are getting near the end, i just know it!
there’s no way i can tell you how much it means to me to have this office completed. it is now my sanctuary, my solace, my peaceful retreat from the rest of the house. as you may expect, the choosing of colors for the new rooms has been quite a challenge for me. the guys at the local paint store and i have become dear friends. i have made countless trips to their store and purchased countless color samples. here is the first fruit of my labor. i LOVE the green and the brown together. allen actually invented my own color for me here with this green. (the photo doesn’t really portray it well. i couldn’t use natural lighting because we are having a rare dark and rainy day here today. the green is smooth and creamy like guacamole.) the first thing we did up there was play music. because the room is empty and the ceiling is high, the acoustics are incredible. it sounded so nice it almost made me not want to move anything in there. almost.
and now i am leaving again. heading down south tomorrow for a few felice brothers shows and to visit my sweet friend megan. megan and i grew up together in georgia. she lived across the street from me and we were like sisters, her mother a second mom to me. i cannot wait to see her! i feel guilty leaving the girls again so soon after glenn and just i went on our trip, but they are excited to spend some time with patty. i think we are all very happy for any chance to get away from this house!

I am SO glad that Cleo the bunny is making herself a part of your family! Every time I think of poor Hazel so sad about Daisy it almost brings tears to my eyes. I’m glad she has another snuggly bunny
A night in a yurt sounds so fun. I’m glad you were able to get away from the crazy construction for a bit. I LOVE your cute green room. Jealous of your color choice. I want a green room in my house! The bathtub looks like it will provide many a relaxing moment. Hope your house is done soon. Have fun in TX and I’ll see you next week!
yay, emily! can’t wait to see you either; it will be a blast, as usual! when you guys come visit and camp out in the yard you can try out my fabulous tub
